ASAHIKO (DUKE) NISHIYAMA

After 33 years in various positions throughout the company, including one year as Chairman, CEO and President of Bridgestone Americas Tire Operations, Asahiko (Duke) Nishiyama assumed the role of Chairman of Bridgestone Americas, Inc. March 1, 2010.
Nishiyama joined Bridgestone Tire Co. Ltd. in 1977. Starting his career in the International Division, Nishiyama’s responsibilities have allowed him to work in both Japan and the United States during his more than 30-year tenure.
In 1985, he was appointed an Executive Committee Member of the Bridgestone Workers’ Union, and by 1991 he assumed the title of Union President. From there, Nishiyama went to the Bridgestone Human Resources Department where he served as a Manager before moving to the United States.
Nishiyama became Director of Business Planning for then-Bridgestone/Firestone, Inc. in 1997. Later he returned to Japan as General Manager of Human Resources for Bridgestone Corporation. In 2004, Nishiyama became the Director of the Americas & Europe Operations Division. In 2005 he returned to the United States as Vice Chairman and President of then-Bridgestone Americas Holding, Inc.
In January of 2009 Mr. Nishiyama was promoted to Chairman, CEO and President of BATO.
Nishiyama serves on several boards, including: Bridgestone Americas, Inc.; Bridgestone Americas Tire Operations, LLC; Bridgestone Retail Operations, LLC; Firestone Diversified Products, LLC; Firestone Polymers, LLC; BFS Brands, LLC; Morgan Tire & Auto, LLC.
Nishiyama has a degree in commercial science from Keio University. He is involved in several community organizations including the Habitat for Humanity, the Middle Tennessee Japan Society (MTJS) and the Japanese Supplementary School of Middle Tennessee (JSMT). |
